BB Creams - what are they and do you need one?

BB Creams - also known as blemish balms or beauty balms originated in Asia, but in the last year or two have made their way over stateside.  These multi-functioning creams combine moisturizer, foundation and sunscreen into one easy to use product.  Jane Iredale just introduced an amazing new BB cream that contains anti-aging ingredients, SPF 25 and comes in 6 shades.  If you are looking for an easy to use all in one cream, or if you feel like foundation and sunscreen are too many layers, then a BB cream might just be the perfect solution for you.  Stop by the spa and we'll help you find your perfect shade!

Need a quick refresher for an aching neck? Here are some great tips for releiving tension built up in the neck. 1. Start by taking a few slow deep breaths. It helps to slowly count while inhaling and exhaling. Inhale 1-2-3-4, Exhale 1-2-3-4 2. Slowly and gently rotate the neck in one direction five times. Reverse direction for five times. 3. Drop the chin to chest to stretch the back of the neck. Hold for at least 15 seconds. 4. Lift the chin towards the ceiling to stretch the front of the neck. Hold for at least 15 seconds. 5. Take a few more breaths and get back to your day!

Don't Forget the Sunscreen

Now that the sun is out in Seattle, the staff at Amai Day Spa wants to remind you how important it is to wear sunscreen every single day. Our trained Estheticians do their best to make your skin look radiant when you come in for your monthly facial, but there is nothing you can do to undermine your treatment more than not wearing sunscreen regularly.

Sun damages your skin on many levels. A lot of the damage happens on the lowest layers of your skin showing up years later as wrinkles and dark spots. If you're thinking that your skin isn't damaged because you haven't burned, you are wrong!

You also need to be choosing a sunscreen that offers broad protection from UVA and UVB light. Not all sunscreens offer broad protection - so be sure to do a little research before investing in sunscreen.

We offer a couple of great sunscreen options including products by Pevonia and by Skinceuticals that both offer great protection from both UVA and UVB rays, but you don't have to use one of our products - we just want you to protect your skin!

If you are worried about looking too pasty, we offer a great self tanning product by St. Tropez that creates a beautiful brown tan - no oranges here!

So we encourage you to get out there and enjoy the sun - these are some of the best days that Seattle has to offer, but please protect your skin!
